Overview
The registered professional nurse is responsible for utilizing nursing skills to effectively carry out the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, evaluation, documentation, and time management. The nurse maintains quality communication, teamwork, and leadership/professionalism. The role includes directing, coordinating, and implementing patient teaching, quality/safety initiatives, and activities of other health team personnel while maintaining standards of professional nursing.
Responsibilities
Use the nursing process: assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, evaluation, documentation, and time management.
Ensure quality communication, teamwork, and leadership/professionalism.
Direct, coordinate, and implement patient teaching and quality/safety initiatives.
Coordinate activities of other health team personnel while maintaining standards of professional nursing.
Position Details
A Registered Nurse III (RN III) is responsible for the care of the population assigned. An RN III is required to complete yearly mandatory competencies, any unit-specific competencies identified by the Director/Designee as it relates to the patient population of the unit, and complete the Professional Practice Ladder requirements, which include assuming responsibility as Charge Nurse, PI Activity, and department initiatives. This includes communicating and sharing information with the Director/Designee and co-workers from the unit or hospital committees, attending Valley Health paid education, seminars/conferences, workshops, or nursing articles. The portfolio must be current and submitted to the Director/Designee annually by March 1. Must be on a committee and provide validation of participation. Routinely solicit and validate patient/family satisfaction, participate in peer review for the unit, and develop a bulletin board or poster that provides educational information to staff/patients/family members.
