Job Overview
As a Registered Nurse at the Minnesota Veterans Home‑Bemidji you will provide assessments, planning, implementation, and evaluation of resident‑centered care within the RN scope of practice. The position is part‑time, primarily evening shift, with at least 64 hours per 2‑week pay period and may include additional hours based on business needs. The role offers full employer contributions to health and dental insurance benefits.

Minimum Qualifications

Registered Nurse license in Minnesota, unrestricted, in good standing. New graduates within six months of completing degree and NCLEX‑RN are encouraged to apply. Contingent offers may be made upon successful completion of degree and NCLEX‑RN.

Current Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross, or ability to obtain before hire.

Effective communication skills sufficient to provide and follow instructions and teach skills to residents.

Computer skills sufficient to complete electronic charting in PointClickCare.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in a skilled nursing facility, long‑term care, or other senior healthcare environment.

Experience working with a Veteran population.

Ability to evaluate nursing care by other staff, recommend changes, and provide mentoring.

Knowledge of nursing practices and techniques sufficient for effective care and decision making within scope.

Effective interpersonal skills to establish and maintain positive working relationships.

Experience with minimum data set (MDS) assessments.

Additional Requirements

Background check by the Minnesota DHS for the top finalist(s); must pass.

Tuberculosis screening (Mantoux) or chest x‑ray required prior to employment.

Employment reference checks for finalists, including review of performance documentation.
