Employment Details
Position: Recovery High School Therapist (Full‑time, weekdays). Schedule may be based on school hours. Location: Cape Girardeau, MO.

Standard schedule: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM. Must be able to start between 7:00 AM and 8:00 AM.

Work hours may vary to align with school programming and student needs.

Salary: Exempt (based on licensure level and experience).

$48,000 – $53,000

for provisionally licensed clinicians (LMSW / PLPC).

$53,000 – $58,000

for fully licensed clinicians (LCSW / LPC).

Job Summary
The Recovery High School Therapist provides comprehensive behavioral health services to adolescents enrolled in a recovery high school program. This role supports students in sustaining recovery while promoting academic success. The therapist works collaboratively within a multidisciplinary, school-based team to deliver trauma‑informed, evidence-based care in alignment with Missouri state regulations and ethical standards.

About the Role
As a Recovery High School Therapist, you will provide direct clinical services to adolescents with substance use and co‑occurring mental health disorders. You will play a key role in supporting both recovery and educational outcomes, working closely with school staff, families, and recovery support professionals.

What You'll Do

Provide individual, group, and family therapy to adolescents.

Conduct biopsychosocial assessments and develop individualized treatment plans.

Complete ongoing clinical evaluations and adjust treatment as needed.

Implement evidence‑based practices such as CBT, DBT, MI, and relapse prevention strategies.

Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and recovery staff to support student success.

Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and student planning sessions.

Provide psychoeducation to students and families on substance use, recovery, and mental health.

Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in compliance with agency, DMH, CARF, and regulatory standards.

Transport students as needed using an agency or personal vehicle.

Minimum Qualifications

Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or a related behavioral health field.

Valid clinical license (LMSW, LCSW, PLPC, LPC, or equivalent) required.

Experience working with adolescents and/or individuals with substance use disorders preferred.

Knowledge of co‑occurring disorders, trauma‑informed care, and recovery‑oriented practices.

Must have reliable transportation.

Valid driver's license issued by state of residence (Missouri or Illinois). Missouri residents must hold a Class E license (or equivalent for state of residence).

Proof of current auto insurance and acceptable driving record per agency policy.
