
Career Services Coordinator

Overview
Honors College staff members should possess a wide-ranging intellectual curiosity and a commitment to working with high-achieving students. As Career Services Coordinator, the incumbent will serve as instructor of record for SCHC internship courses and coordinate the promotion, implementation and evaluation of the program. The incumbent will develop and manage alumni connections initiatives, connecting SCHC students to SCHC alumni, working alongside the SCHS development team and Career Services Director.
Responsibilities
SCHC Internship Program: Coordinates the promotion, implementation and evaluation of year-round SCHC internship courses. Promotes SCHC internships to employers and students. Assists in the preparation of students for internship experiences. Manages administrative and operational functions of the SCHC Internship Program. Serves as primary instructor of record for multiple sections of SCHC internship courses (fall, spring and summer), and facilitates the Blackboard courses. Communicates accurate and relevant information regarding the honors internship program to staff and students via multiple communication channels, including emails and the SCHC Newsletter.
Career Development: Develops and executes career/professional development workshops, meetings and presentations exclusively for SCHC students. Collaborates with SCHC student organizations and groups for workshop or presentation requests (may also bring in campus partners such as the Career Center).
Alumni Initiatives and Connections: Manages the process of connecting Honors College alumni to current students for career development opportunities. Creates initiatives that allow students to conduct informational interviews and job shadowing with SCHC alumni. Oversees SCHC alumni requests to hire SCHC students for internships or jobs. Works closely with SCHC Development staff to host alumni events that support students in their career development.
Post-Undergraduate Educational Support: Provides guidance to SCHC students and advisors on pre-professional topics and initiatives. Supports students interested in pursuing post-undergraduate education by developing innovative programming. Serves as liaison with the Office of Pre-Professional and Graduate Advising, and as primary contact for students interested in attending law school, collaborating with the SCHC Manager of Special Program on USC Rice School of Law initiatives and outreach.
Scholarships: Promote all available scholarships pertaining to the honors internship program, including the Summer Smith Taylor Scholarship, on the website and SCHC newsletter. Supports and assists Career Services Director in application review and decision making process.
Other duties: Additional duties and responsibilities, in support of other activities of the Honors College.
Qualifications
Job Related Minimum Required Education And Experience
Requires a bachelor’s degree in a job related field and 2 or more years of job related experience, which may be substituted by an equivalent combination of job related certification, training, education, and/or experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Prior career coaching experience in a university career center, academic unit or industry.
Prior teaching experience in higher education.
Some knowledge of USC policies, procedures and programs.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Applicants must have the ability to function in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
The successful candidate will be well organized, have excellent written and oral communication skills, be able to deal diplomatically with various constituent groups and be proficient in Microsoft Office Software (Excel, Word and PowerPoint).
Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret information accurately are critical.
