Overview
RiverWoods is seeking a Nursing Staff Scheduling and Medical Records professional in Durham for a full-time (40 hr/week) onsite role (Mon–Fri). Standard hours are daytime, such as 8:30–5:00, with some flexibility for shifting hours; the ideal candidate may work an earlier schedule one day a week and may need flexibility on weekdays from time to time. The Nurse Scheduler provides staffing coordination to assure the highest quality resident care at all times.

Responsibilities

Prepare a work schedule on a four-week basis for all nursing shifts. Familiarity with OnShift scheduling modules and ADP for time approval is a plus.

Communicates continuously with DON/ADON to ensure accuracy and coordination of information.

Monitor time off requests and available earned time off (ETO) hours.

Provide adequate coverage to fill time off requests and open positions by utilizing per diem and part-time staff prior to obtaining permission to utilize staff for overtime and/or agency nurses.

Medical Records

Admits, transfers, and discharges residents in accordance with established policies and procedures as residents transition within the community.

Update resident admit, transfer and discharge in the electronic health record to ensure accurate census. Update Medicare status on date of discharge from Medicare A, including identifying and applying ICD-10 coding.

Confirms Medicare A admission eligibility and hospital admission qualifying Med A dates with Social Services. Obtains Medicare A effective coverage date, last coverage date and discharge dates from the MDS Coordinator. Updates Medicare status in electronic health record.

Obtains medical information from follow-up appointments outside RiverWoods as needed.

Greets and directs residents, family members, physicians, vendors, staff and guests in a responsive, helpful, cooperative, friendly, polite and positive manner.

Provide administrative support to Supportive Living Team

Qualifications

Prior experience with medical records preferred, including ICD-10 coding knowledge and experience.

Detail oriented, organized, and able to multi-task.

Prior experience as a staff scheduler is preferred, but not required.

Strong interpersonal and relationship skills, problem solving skills, critical thinking.
