Molecular Biology Summer Intern

Overview

BioMérieux is a global leader in developing, manufacturing, marketing, and supporting FDA‑cleared molecular diagnostics for infectious disease. These internships offer motivated college or high school students (must be at least 18 years of age) an opportunity to contribute to an early‑stage research or product development project and to be immersed in a highly productive and collaborative biotechnology environment.
Under the close supervision of a mentorship team, interns may participate in any or all of the following activities, depending on the specific project assigned: 1) perform general laboratory duties; 2) perform wet lab molecular biology work; 3) assist in planning and setup activities for research studies; 4) participate in data analysis and presentation; 5) co‑develop and test new research productivity tools; and 6) maintain accurate records of work performed, in accordance with BioMérieux Quality Management System. Internships are available in two research and development groups focused on panel development and assay design and research focused on investigation and sustainability. Internship Activities

Perform general laboratory duties.
Perform wet lab molecular biology work.
Assist in planning and setup activities for research studies.
Participate in data analysis and presentation.
Co‑develop and test new research productivity tools.
Maintain accurate records of work performed, in accordance with BioMérieux Quality Management System.
Intern Duties

Listen actively while receiving instruction, in order to quickly master assigned duties.
Be present and engaged during scheduled work hours.
Ask questions when any aspect of assigned work is unclear.
Be curious and persistent when solving problems.
Behave professionally while representing BioMérieux.
Participate in research team meetings.
Perform assigned duties with a conscientious and detail‑oriented approach.
Prepare preliminary analyses of experimental data for review with mentor.
Assist mentor in preparing presentations of data and conclusions.
Perform and document all work in compliance with BioMérieux Quality Management System.
Works full‑time onsite in Salt Lake City.
Qualifications

Applicants must be currently enrolled in a university‑degreed program and have a strong interest in biotechnology, biology, microbiology, and/or diagnostics.
Currently enrolled undergraduate students pursuing a biotechnology‑related bachelor’s degree are preferred.
Previous work experience in a laboratory setting or coursework with a laboratory component is desirable.

Compensation and Benefits

The pay for this role is $20.00-22.00 hourly.
