Job Description
Intermountain Health is seeking a dedicated and experienced Medical Assistant (MA) Program Instructor to lead our Medical Assistant Training Program. The ideal candidate will deliver high‑quality instruction and training to aspiring medical assistants, ensuring they acquire the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in their roles. This position involves both didactic classroom and clinical lab instruction, with a focus on fostering a supportive and engaging learning environment.
Unit/Location
St George Regional Hospital – Southwest Utah area, including St. George and Cedar City. May require travel to clinics and collaboration with all market teams.
Essential Functions
Deliver comprehensive course materials and lesson plans for the Medical Assistant Training Programs.
Provide didactic classroom and hands‑on lab instruction on anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, clinical procedures, and administrative skills.
Conduct hands‑on clinical training sessions to ensure students gain practical experience in a healthcare setting.
Assess student performance through exams, practical evaluations, and assignments, providing constructive feedback.
Collaborate with Medical Group educators across the enterprise to assure consistency in program development and implementation of on‑the‑job training.
Collaborate with other instructors, clinical leads, and program coordinators to continuously improve curriculum and training methods.
Stay current with industry trends and advancements in medical assisting to keep the program up‑to‑date and relevant.
Mentor and support students throughout their training, addressing concerns or challenges they may face.
Participate in program development and evaluation to enhance overall quality.
Demonstrate instructional methodology with expertise in curriculum development, assessment strategies, and use of technology.
Demonstrate expertise in simulation training, creating and managing realistic scenarios.
May be part of MA skills and competency checks.
Collaborate with clinical rotation supervision, support, scheduling, and rounding on clinical sites.

Communication skills – strong verbal and written communication to convey complex medical concepts.

Minimum Qualifications
Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) with a minimum of 3 years of clinical experience.
BLS certification for healthcare providers.
Minimum 2 years of teaching or training experience in a healthcare setting.
Strong knowledge of medical assisting principles, practices, and competencies.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate students.
Proficiency in using educational technology to enhance learning.
Commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment while modeling Intermountain’s values and leadership behaviors.
Preferred Qualifications
Previous teaching or training experience in a healthcare setting with a minimum of 2 years.
Physical Requirements
Ability to see, read, and assess information, labels, and equipment.
Must communicate verbally and understand spoken information promptly, especially during emergencies.
Manual dexterity to manipulate delicate equipment, including frequent computer use and typing for documentation.
Expected to lift, transfer, and move patients and supplies, including items up to 75 lbs.
Ability to walk, ambulate patients, and navigate crowded or busy rooms.
May need to stand for extended periods.
Compensation
Hourly range: $21.88 to $33.77 (actual rate depends on experience). Scheduled weekly hours: 40.
