Speech Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) - Part‑time/PRN
Job Summary
The Speech Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) will support licensed Speech‑Language Pathologists (SLPs) in implementing speech therapy programs for individuals with various speech and language disorders. The role involves working directly with patients to carry out therapy plans, monitoring progress, and assisting with administrative tasks. The position is part‑time or PRN, offering flexible work hours based on departmental or patient needs.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Provide patient care within scope, following the treatment plan.
Assist in implementing speech therapy plans under SLP supervision.
Monitor and document patient progress and response to treatment.
Educate patients/clients and caregivers as needed.
Complete visit documentation, including progress and clinical notes, promptly.
Follow infection‑control and safety protocols.
Communicate effectively with patients, caregivers, and the healthcare team.
Meet continuing education requirements and participate in in‑service training.
Ensure compliance with all relevant payor requirements.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Graduate from a school of Speech Language Pathology Assistant with a Bachelor’s degree (or higher) emphasizing Speech‑Language Pathology or Audiology.
Current Texas State License as an SLPA.
CPR certification.
Recent work experience in Home Health (preferred).
2 years’ experience as an SLPA in an acute‑care or rehabilitation setting.
Driver’s License (required).
Car insurance & registration (required).
Skills
Knowledge of speech therapy techniques, exercises, and tools.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with patients, families, and other healthcare professionals.
Ability to observe, document, and report patient progress accurately.
Ability to follow detailed instructions and therapy plans.
Strong clinical assessment, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
Bilingual (Spanish) preferred.
Highly self‑motivated and results driven.
