Job Summary
To provide quality childcare in a nurturing, safe environment utilizing developmentally appropriate activities; to oversee the before/after school activities of kindergarten through 6th grade children.
Key Responsibilities
Plan, organize and implement age appropriate activities for kindergarten through 6th grade children
Monitor individual students, environment, playground activities, etc. to reinforce positive student behavior, supervise students and to ensure a safe and positive learning environment
Maintain a supportive environment with appropriate materials and learning area
Conduct shopping trips for activity and food supplies
Maintain regular communication with parents
Perform record keeping and general clerical functions (i.e. student and financial records, etc.) to support administrator in providing documentation
Adhere to Arizona Department of Health Services (DHS) regulations
Oversee instructional aides in the performance of their duties
Regular on time attendance required
Perform other related duties, as assigned, to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit
Assists with other assigned duties as appropriate to the area of assignment and Mesa Public Schools
Required Qualifications
High School education and course credit related to childhood recreation required
Must be at least 21 years of age
Minimum two years experience working with groups of kindergarten through 6th grade children

Current, or ability to obtain, CPR and First Aid Certification
Ability to meet the qualifications required for Child Care Licensing including negative TB results
Ability to adhere to and implement Arizona Department of Health Services (DHS) regulations
Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written) with children, staff and parents; maintain confidentiality
Computer proficiency to include use of basic software applications (Word, Excel, etc)
Ability to operate standard office equipment
Ability to organize and prioritize workload
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
Frequently works in school buildings where Xplore (or similar extended learning programs) operate
Some duties will take place in a district administrative office setting (e.g., scheduling, budgeting, reporting)
Frequent interaction with students, teachers, school administrators, and parents
Work schedule often extends into late afternoons or early evenings
Environment may be noisy and busy, especially during program operations
Ability to move about school campuses, including walking, standing, and sometimes climbing stairs
Occasional lifting of materials or supplies up to 25–30 lbs (e.g., boxes of program materials, snack supplies)
