Job Summary
The

Housekeeping Associate II

is responsible for the general cleanliness of the following areas at the medical facilities: procedure areas, wound care, emergency department, GI lab, intensive care unit patient care areas, restrooms, and all other areas requiring environmental services support. The role includes removing trash and linen from the hospital using a compactor and cardboard baler, distributing linen throughout the hospital, and performing sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, wiping, and surface cleaning of floors, walls, ceilings, sinks, mirrors, showers, commodes, windows, glass areas, waiting areas, and public hallways. The employee also performs terminal cleaning of isolation rooms or exam rooms as required, moves furniture and other heavy equipment, and completes established competencies during the introductory period. Other related duties are assigned as needed.

Responsibilities

Perform cleaning functions in assigned areas using prescribed methods.

Maintain assigned equipment for cleanliness and arrange repairs when necessary.

Observe and report the need for repairs to equipment, furniture, building, and fixtures.

Apply proper infection control practices and isolation techniques.

Perform other assigned tasks.

Ensure cleanliness and neat appearance of assigned areas, complete the schedule, and follow instructions from supervisors.

Use tools, supplies, and chemicals appropriately to avoid damage to equipment and hospital property.

Employ good judgment and proper procedures in the performance of assigned tasks.

Support the mission and vision of the Baptist Healthcare System and demonstrate excellent customer service at all times.

Understand and enforce system, departmental, and hospital policies and procedures as well as established rules and regulations.

Train in other functions or positions to ensure satisfactory operation of the department or permit flexible staffing assignments.

Comply with safety policies and rules, use appropriate safety equipment and procedures, and report unsafe conditions to supervisors.

Demonstrate the ability to work in a fast‑paced, customer‑service‑oriented environment and meet deadlines in a timely manner.

Complete assignments independently and as part of a team; take instructions from supervisors; exercise problem‑solving skills; communicate professionally with co‑workers, supervisors, patients, vendors, and the public.

Communicate appropriately to other employees and customers based on the situation and the age level of the person.

Perform all essential job functions while on duty.

Qualifications
Minimum Education:

Ability to read, write, and understand English.

Preferred Education:

High school graduate, GED, or at least two years of full‑time experience in environmental services in lieu of education.

Minimum Experience:

Two years of cleaning experience in hospitality or healthcare and terminal cleaning experience.
