Ria’s Ranch is seeking a highly experienced, accountable Ranch Hand / Equine Professional to oversee daily operations at a boutique equine facility. This is a hands‑on, performance‑driven role requiring strong horsemanship, operational discipline, and the ability to independently manage horses and facility standards without supervision.
This position is structured for someone who understands that feeding, safety, and maintenance are non‑negotiable—and who may also be interested in developing a training and lesson program using the ranch’s facilities.
If you are looking for a casual barn job, this is not it. If you are a serious horse professional who wants a base of operations to grow from, this is a strong opportunity.
Core Responsibilities (Zero Tolerance for Misses)
Daily feeding execution per individualized feeding programs (No missed feedings. No shortcuts. Accountability required.)
Hay management including proper covering/uncovering and waste prevention
Full facility maintenance
Stall and paddock cleaning
Fence inspection and repair coordination
Irrigation/sprinkler awareness and upkeep
General ranch functionality
Horse handling across all levels
Confident movement of horses without risk to self or animal
Experience with young horses and foals strongly preferred
Exercise and conditioning
Lunging and groundwork performed correctly and safely
Operational awareness
Identify and address issues proactively (not after failure)
Maintain a clean, professional, and functional environment at all times
Independent work capabilityThis is a self‑managed role; you will often work alone
Preferred Qualifications
Proven, hands‑on equine experience (3–5+ years minimum)
Strong horse handling skills—you know how to move horses safely without hesitation
Experience identifying facility issues before they become problems
Ability to manage daily operations without supervision
High personal standards and work ethic
Growth Opportunity (Optional but Valued)
This role can evolve for the right candidate:
Opportunity to train horses on‑site
Ability to offer riding lessons and build a client base
Access to ranch amenities to support independent equine business activity
Note: These opportunities are secondary to operational performance. The facility must run correctly first.
Position Reality Check
This is a full‑time operational role first. If feeding, cleaning, and maintenance are not executed properly, nothing else moves forward. We are looking for someone who takes ownership, not direction.
Ideal Candidate Profile
Treats the ranch like it’s their own operation
Notices problems before being told
Has zero tolerance for missed responsibilities
Wants a long‑term foothold in a quality equine facility
