JOB SUMMARY
The Golf Course Superintendent and Operations Manager is responsible for the overall management, planning, and daily operation of golf course maintenance for an 18-hole facility located in Cordele, Georgia. This role oversees all agronomic practices, turfgrass management, irrigation systems, operations, and grounds maintenance while ensuring optimal playing conditions and course aesthetics.
The course is under new ownership and undergoing renovation and restoration through Summer 2026, and this role includes planning, execution, and ongoing course improvement initiatives. This position is accountable for budget management of the course, regulatory compliance, staff leadership, and delivering a high-quality golf experience that drives guest and member satisfaction.
Superintendent & Agronomic Management
Oversees all aspects of turfgrass management including greens, tees, fairways, rough, and practice areas to ensure championship-level playing conditions
Develops and executes agronomic plans including fertilization, aerification, topdressing, overseeding, and pest/disease control programs
Oversees all irrigation systems, including scheduling, repairs, water conservation, and system upgrades
Monitors soil conditions, weather patterns, and environmental factors to proactively adjust maintenance practices
Leads course improvement projects, including vendor coordination, construction oversight, and project timelines
Ensures compliance with all local, state, and federal environmental regulations, including chemical applications and water usage
Maintains accurate records for chemical applications, irrigation logs, and agronomic reporting
Operations
Ensures all tees, greens, fairways, and rough meet established quality and playability standards
Manages the overall appearance of the golf course including landscaping, pruning, weed control, and aesthetic enhancements
Identifies, recommends, and implements course improvements and capital projects
Evaluates and implements new technologies, equipment, and maintenance practices
Collaborates with golf professionals and tournament coordinators to meet event requirements and course setups
Participates in recruitment, hiring, training, onboarding and scheduling of team members
Oversees proper care of all turf, plantings, and natural areas to promote healthy growth
Controls departmental expenses and operates within approved budgets
Ensures contractor work meets quality standards and adheres to safety protocols
Maintains equipment fleet for optimal performance, safety, and longevity
Manages inventory of parts, tools, supplies, and chemicals
Supervises chemical mixing and application in accordance with best practices and regulations
Performs hands‑on duties as needed to support operations
Ensures staff understand expectations, priorities, and operational goals
Analyzes operational data to improve efficiency and course conditions
Guest Experience
Maintains course conditions that meet or exceed player expectations daily
Coordinates with golf operations to deliver a seamless guest experience
Responds proactively to feedback regarding course conditions
Supports tournaments and special events with high‑level course preparation
Education and Experience Requirements
An associates and/or bachelor’s degree in Turf Management or a related field.
A minimum of 3 years of experience in Golf Course Maintenance.
A minimum of 1 year of experience in preparing and managing budgets for the golf course and landscape maintenance departments.
A minimum of 1 year of technical knowledge of all equipment, products, and resources related to golf course operations with the ability to implement these resources to meet or exceed company and club standards.
Current State Pesticide Applicators License or successfully completed within 90 days of employment.
Valid driver’s license.
