Service Technician

Overview

PMD is building a brand-new Service Department right here in Victor, NY! Our Service Technicians are responsible for supporting existing equipment and assembly projects. They fit and assemble components to build one-of-a-kind special purpose machines and equipment. Come join this team of highly technical, customer-facing, world traveling experts!
Essential Functions

Travel to customer sites (domestic and international) for installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, services and support.
Work with engineering and build teams to build, debug, and commission custom automation equipment.
Modify and optimize PLC, HMI, motion, robot and vision systems.
Troubleshoot electrical, pneumatic, mechanical and control systems.
Support and/or lead factory acceptance and site acceptance.
Respond to service calls and provide onsite and/or remote support.
Technical Expertise

PLCs, HMIs, Motion (Allen‑Bradley, Siemens)
Robotics (Fanuc, ABB, Kuka, etc.)
Vision systems (Cognex, Keyence)
Industrial networks (EtherNet/IP, Profinet, Modbus, etc.)
Controls Hardware

Electrical panel build & field wiring
Pneumatics / fluid power integration
Code familiarity (NFPA79, UL508A, CSA, CE)
Mechanical & Electromechanical

Mechanical assembly, alignment & troubleshooting
Industrial sensors & transducers
Integration of peripherals (servo presses, leak testers, laser systems, data systems)

Requirements

Associate degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Robotics, or Computer Engineering (or equivalent experience). Industry certifications (Fanuc, Siemens, Keyence, etc.) will be considered in place of experience.
Physical Demands & Work Environment

Occasional travel domestic and international for installation of machinery up to 40%.
Regularly required to stand, walk, push, pull, stoop, kneel, crouch; use hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear; and smell.
Occasionally required to sit, climb, balance, and crawl.
Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds unassisted.
Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Work environment is primarily performed indoors around moving mechanical parts at a moderate noise level.
Occasionally perform work outdoors in all types of weather.
Wear safety equipment, including proper PPE.
