Overview
Position Summary:
U.S. Waffle Company, Inc. is seeking a skilled and dependable Industrial Maintenance Facilities Technician to support the safe and efficient operation of our Liberty, SC facility. This role is responsible for maintaining critical building systems and infrastructure, ensuring compliance with safety and food quality standards, and minimizing downtime through proactive maintenance and timely repairs. The ideal candidate brings hands-on technical expertise, strong troubleshooting abilities, and a commitment to maintaining a high-performance, safety-focused environment in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.
Responsibilities
Work in accordance with all company safety and food safety policies and procedures
Report all physical safety concerns / issues to Facilities Manager and EHS Coordinator
Report all food safety concerns / issues to Facilities Manager and QA department
Execute preventive maintenance program as per schedule for all facility systems and equipment
Conduct diagnostic checks, troubleshooting, and repair for facility systems including electrical, fire, security, HVAC, water treatment, compressed air, and refrigeration (including ammonia)
Perform general building and grounds maintenance
Monitor facility systems to track operational readings, responding to alerts and deviations from standard operational conditions
Maintain accurate maintenance logs, service records, inspection checklists, regulatory documents, and hot work permits
Document all work activities in CMMS
Education and Work Experience
Electrical, HVAC, Plumbing, Refrigeration, or Ammonia certifications are highly preferred
High School Diploma or GED required. Trade school or technical college completion preferred
Ability to read, write, and perform basic mathematical operations
2-3 years experience in an industrial maintenance role, preferably within the food, medical, or pharmaceutical industries
Ability to diagnose, troubleshoot, and perform maintenance on facility systems (HVAC, plumbing, refrigeration, electrical)
Flexibility and willingness to work overtime and to work varied shifts which may include evenings and weekends as required to maintain facility and support facility projects
Knowledge and understanding in the use of basic hand tools and power tools (drills, grinders, saws)
Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
Knowledge of MS Office, ERP, and CMMS software
Physical and Safety Requirements
Must be able to lift, carry, and push up to 50 lbs. without assistance
Ability to work in variable environmental conditions (hot, cold, wet, dusty, smoky)
Understanding of Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA) guidelines and regulations
Understanding of Food Safety and Quality Assurance (FSQA) practices and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)
Ability to properly use all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including eye protection, safety footwear, hearing protection, respirator, electrical PPE, and chemical PPE
Ability to work at heights and within confined spaces
Ability to walk, stand, and work on concrete surfaces for duration of assigned shifts
Frequent bending, stooping, squatting, pushing, lifting and climbing
Use of hands to include fine manipulation, gripping, and hand-eye coordination
