Position Summary
The Department of Physics and Astronomy at UNC‑Chapel Hill invites applications for a Teaching Assistant Professor, beginning spring 2027. The role is for a three‑year initial term, renewable upon review. The successful candidate will primarily teach introductory undergraduate physics in large‑enrollment settings and engage students in the learning process.

Responsibilities

Teach undergraduate physics courses, primarily introductory, in large enrollment settings.

Participate in administrative tasks related to large enrollment courses as part of a teaching team.

Engage students in the learning process and incorporate modern pedagogy.

Qualifications

Ph.D. in Physics, Astronomy, or a closely related field.

Experience teaching at the college level.

Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience

Strong oral and written communication skills.

Experience designing and revising course curricula.

Experience collaborating with a teaching team.

Proven ability to engage students in the learning process.
