Clinical Nurse II - 1600/1700 Acute Care Unit (Per Diem, Variable)

Job Description
At NorthBay Health a Registered Nurse on the Acute Care Unit you will provide safe, effective, quality, excellent nursing care to our patients following Jean Watson’s Theory of Caring, the Relationship Based Care, and the NorthBay’s professional nursing practice model. You will assess, plan, implement and evaluate care for all patients assigned to your care. You will also use a therapeutic professional relationship with the patient and their family along with your interdisciplinary team to facilitate the promotion, maintenance, and restoration of health for the patient.

Education
Graduate from an accredited school of professional registered nursing,
Nursing degree of BSN level or higher is required. (excludes grandfathered employees)

License And Certifications
Valid, current and unencumbered RN license by the State of California.
Current AHA or AHA equivalent BLS and ACLS required.
Must have Telemetry certification within 3 months of employment.
National nursing certification is preferred.

Experience, Knowledge, And Skills
Six months acute care RN experience required (One full year of skilled nursing care, Long Term Acute Care, or Acute Rehabilitation is equivalent to six months of acute care experience).
One year of Medical/Surgical experience highly preferred.
Competent in providing skilled registered nursing care to Medical/Surgical/Tele level patients.
Proficient written, verbal, and electronic communication skills.

Other
All RNs in the Patient Care Services Department are required to wear Graphite (Dark Gray) colored scrubs per the professional appearance policy.

Work Hours
Total Hours: At least four (4) shifts each month, or more as determined by the department's per diem availability standard and process.
Shift: 12-hour shifts.

Compensation Structure
NorthBay Health uses a structured compensation framework. Staff‑level positions use a step‑based system (Steps 1–5) based on years of directly related experience, with Step 5 representing 20 or more years of experience in the role. Manager level and above positions are paid a fixed annual base salary and are eligible for a variable incentive compensation plan. Physician compensation is structured based on specialty and role requirements.

NorthBay Health is primarily an onsite organization due to the nature of healthcare. Some roles may allow hybrid or remote work based on business needs. Remote work is not supported in Washington, Ohio, Wyoming, North Dakota, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, or outside of the United States.
