Job Summary
Applicant will be assigned to work on research areas of heart diseases in Dr. Tipparaju lab at the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences. Dr. Tipparaju’s research lab studies heart failure, myocardial infarction, skeletal muscle disease and evaluates gene/drug
anoparticle‑based therapeutics using cell culture, organoids and animal models.
Responsibilities
Conduct research using ex vivo Langendorff setup, performing I/R protocols, collecting perfusate, measuring biochemical markers, TTC staining, and compiling timely reports using Image J, Biorender, GraphPad Prism.
Develop and modify laboratory research protocols on biological materials, including mammalian tissue cultures, histology with sterile technique, slide preparation and staining, and assays for protein (Western blotting), RNA, DNA, or other cellular components.
Care for laboratory animals, performing standardized experimental protocols and in vivo procedures, preparing animals for surgery, and caring for animals after surgery, including coordination of animal handling, breeding, tissue collection, and genotyping.
Culture and differentiate induced pluripotent stem (iPS) cells.
Maintain laboratory equipment, arrange repairs, order and inventory supplies, calibrate instruments, and prepare equipment for use.
Keep records and maintain project databases, prepare graphs, charts, and tables from experimental results for presentations, publications, and grant applications.
Train undergraduate students in laboratory methods, perform literature searches for appropriate laboratory techniques, and perform other duties as assigned.
Be available on weekends if needed to change culture medium for stem cells and care for animals.
Attend lab meetings and present data to PI and lab members.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent plus three years of laboratory or research experience; college coursework in a natural or physical science may substitute for experience on a year‑to‑year basis.
Four years of direct experience for a bachelor’s degree (SB 1310 equivalency).
Eligibility for federal employment (meeting all U.S. work‑authorization requirements).
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in biology, chemistry, health sciences, pharmaceutical, medical, or applied science.
Experience with immunohistochemistry, confocal microscopy, western blotting, real‑time qPCR, and related techniques.
Experience in cell culture research is a plus.
