About the Facility
Meridell Achievement Center is a 134‑bed, seclusion‑free psychiatric residential treatment facility located northwest of Austin on a 60‑acre campus with mature oaks, rolling hills, and extensive outdoor spaces. It serves girls and boys ages 10 to 17 with customized therapeutic approaches and intensive behavioral programs.

Responsibilities
We are looking for RN's to work weekend doubles with our adolescent population. Shifts will be Saturday and Sunday from 6:30 AM to 10:30 PM each day. The RN position is under the supervision of the Director of Nursing and provides physical assessments of patients, implements treatment plans, evaluates responses to treatment, and provides complete documentation. The RN administers medications as prescribed, offers health care education for patients and families, acts as shift supervisor of the mental health techs and LVN staff, ensures a safe and therapeutic environment, provides direct patient care and management of teens and young adults, and handles safety, supervision, and crisis management for the patient population. The RN also assists with medical management and the maintenance of a therapeutic milieu.

Qualifications
Education/Training:

Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.

One year psychiatric / neuropsychiatric experience with adolescents and/or young adults in a long‑term hospital or residential setting preferred.

Experience:

One (1) year of experience related to the supervision of swimming activities and safety in and around pools.

Knowledge of psychiatric patient care techniques and understanding of mental illness, preferred.

Licensure/Certification:

Current Texas professional nurse license

Current driver license

Knowledge and Skills:

Good verbal and written communication skills.

Maintain confidentiality of patient and employee information.

Demonstrate effective organization.

Develop and implement patient care services within discipline.

Consistently exhibit mental ability to understand and perform essential functions of the job.

Ability to initiate and implement all phases of the nursing process.

Provide safe nursing care.

Understand patient rights.

Basic supervisory skills.
