Position Overview
This position is accountable for providing engineering assistance to the ResidentEngineer in the inspection, layout and documentation of highway construction improvementprojects. This position is included in the rotational program for Engineers and EngineeringTechnicians.
Essential Functions
Keeps accurate and legible record of inspection, field measurements and documentationof contract.
Keeps the Resident Engineer informed on status and/or problems of contractor's work.
Provides accurate measurements on surveys for construction layout.
Performs duties in compliance with departmental safety rules. Performs all dutiesin a manner conducive to the fair and equitable treatment of all employees.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Completion of two years of college in civil engineering technology, pre-engineeringor a job related technical/science curriculum OR two years of engineering experience.
Conditions of Employment
Valid driver’s license.
Travel is required.
Successful completion of a background screening.
Certain provisions of the revolving door restrictions contained in 5 ILCS 430/5-45apply to this position. As a result, the employee should be aware that if offerednon-State employment during State employment or within one year immediately afterending State employment, the employee shall, prior to accepting any such non-Stateemployment offer, notify the Office of the Executive Inspector General for the Agenciesof the Illinois Governor (“OEIG”) or may be subject to a fine.
