How You Will Make An Impact
Verify patient information by interviewing the patient, recording medical history, and confirming the purpose of the visit
Prepare patients for examination and set up rooms for appropriate procedures
Assist providers with examinations, cosmetic procedures, and surgeries
Document all patient notes in an electronic medical record, NexTech
Secure patient information and maintain confidentiality by completing and safeguarding medical records
Respond to patient telephone inquiriesMaintain pathology and laboratory logs
Administer medications and injections as needed
Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by establishing and following standards and procedures and complying with legal regulations
Keep supplies ready by inventorying stock, placing orders, and verifying receipt; keep exam rooms fully stocked
Clean and sterilize instruments
Keep equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, maintaining supplies, performing preventive maintenance, and calling for repairs
Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and reading professional publications
Serve and protect the dermatology practice by adhering to professional standards, policies and procedures, and federal, state, and local requirements
Enhance practice reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests and exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments
Maintain a professional image through proper attire and grooming
Perform other duties as needed
Performance Requirements
Ability to effectively triage patients to obtain chief complaint
Excellent customer service, communication skills and general etiquette
Ability to understand patient needs and concerns
Ability to work as a team member
Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
Organized with attention to detail
Computer proficiency
Proficient with medical terminology
Knowledge of CPT and ICD‑10 coding
Education
High school diploma or equivalent
Completion of an accredited medical assistance program with the ability to sit for the national CMA exam. Qualified years of experience in lieu of certification may be considered in some cases
Experience
Two years’ experience in a physician medical practice preferred but not required. Dermatology or plastic surgery experience is preferred. New graduates are welcome to apply
Cosmetic/General Dermatology MA: require a minimum of 1 year of experience in either cosmetic or general dermatology
ADA Specifications
Requires ability to speak audibly and listen actively
Requires ability to use computers, telephones, and other office equipment
Requires ability to sit for extended periods of time
May require occasional bending and lifting up to 25 pounds
May require periodic travel
