
Pharmacist

Purpose of Job
This position is responsible for the dispensing medications and providing drug information following established standards and practices to ensure proper and safe medication use.
Job Functions
Compounds and dispenses medications and other pharmaceuticals.
Prepares IV solutions.
Prepares and maintains all necessary records on prescriptions, patient charges and inventory.
Provides information to facility staff on drugs and pharmaceuticals.
Writes guidelines for drug use within the hospital and implements hospital regulations.
Ensures medicines are stored appropriately and securely.
Provides guidance to pharmacy staff.
Answers questions about medicines from within the hospital, other hospitals and the general public.
This position may occasionally be required to float to other locations. Waconia, Chaska, Arlington.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Night Pharmacist Functions
Delivers medications to nursing stations.
Performs the Intelliguard tray refill for the OR's.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Pharmacist in Charge Functions
Maintains that the pharmacy follows rules set out by the board of pharmacy.
Orders and stocks medications in accordance with DEA regulations.
Maintains that all licenses and variances are up to date for the assigned site.
Minimum Education/Work Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy
Pharmacist experience in hospital setting
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Knowledge of basic computer functions and Microsoft Office applications
Ability to meet and maintain the necessary background checks as aligned with position functions
Capable of making independent decisions with the use of good critical thinking and problem solving skills
Ability to respond appropriately to unpredictable situations and diverse patient populations
Ability to work carefully, methodically and accurately
Knowledge of IV admixture, unit doses, computer operation, oncology, nutritional support and kinetic dosing
Ability to communicate in the English language for effective written and verbal correspondence in order to complete job functions as mentioned above
License/Certification
Valid Minnesota Pharmacist licensure

Schedule
Every fourth weekend with ability to pick up additional shifts as needed.
