Patient Care Assistant (PCA)
Unit:
Med Surg Pulmonary 3C Unit, Edgewood Hospital
Schedule:
Part Time, 24 hours per week, 7A-7P.
Job Summary:
The PCA is responsible for coordinating and maintaining the clerical functions and duties of a designated unit/program.
Responsibilities:
Utilize customer service skills when greeting patients/visitors and answering telephone.
Demonstrate the ability to complete worklist tasks triggered by physician orders or nurse-generated tasks under the direct supervision of licensed nursing personnel.
Provide direct and indirect patient care activities under the direction of an RN or LPN.
Assist patients with activities of daily living, provide for personal care and comfort, and maintain a safe and clean environment for an assigned group of patients.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED.
Customer service experience.
Ability to perform tasks such as vital signs.
Knowledge of body mechanics.
General computer skills and applications.
