Medical Screener - Reception Technician

Responsibilities

Responsible for greeting donors at the plasma collection center and conducting registration procedures to verify donor suitability for the plasma pheresis process.

Assist qualified donors in completing the screening process in compliance with SOPs, including assessing self‑administered health history, answering medical questions, referring donors to medical staff, and performing health screening procedures such as blood pressure, pulse, weight, temperature and finger stick for hematocrit and protein levels.

Educate new donors on therapeutic products made from donated plasma, including the screening process, health screening tests, appointment system, donation fees, center policies, nutrition and other pertinent information; ensure accurate, timely, professional response to donor questions.

Register applicant and transfer donors as appropriate based on training and operational needs.

Answer the telephone and transfer calls to the appropriate staff member.

Maintain alertness to donor reactions during or after pheresis and notify appropriate staff.

Alert Group Leader or Supervisor of donor flow issues.

Ensure accurate recording of donor data in the electronic donor information management system as outlined in SOPs.

Understand policies and procedures associated with hyperimmune programs at the center, if applicable.

Maintain a clean, efficient work environment and ensure sufficient operating supplies and forms are available; follow all HSE and OSHA policies and procedures; promote safety in all actions.

Maintain confidentiality of all personnel, donor and center information.

May be cross‑trained in other areas to meet business needs.

Bilingual skills may be required at the discretion of the organization.

Perform other job‑related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent.

Minimum of three (3) months experience in a clerical or customer service related position, preferably in a medical or health provider environment, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Ability to perform basic math calculations.

The expected base pay for this position at hiring is $16.61/hour - $19.65/hour. Individual base pay is determined by qualifications, skill level, experience, competencies and other factors.
