Biomedical Technician II

Job Description
Under general supervision, performs standard diagnostic trouble‑shooting, repair and maintenance of sophisticated and complex electronic, electro‑mechanical and mechanical biomedical and laboratory equipment. Examples include ventilators, ultrasound infusion devices, surgical tables, patient monitoring systems and other electro‑mechanical and microprocessor based instrumentation. Repairs and maintains other non-direct patient care equipment. Evaluates new, proposed and existing equipment and related maintenance programs making recommendations for changes. Performs acceptance inspection of new biomedical equipment and ensures equipment meets manufacturers’ specifications for safe and proper use. Completes purchase orders for parts, services and supplies. Contributes to continuous quality improvement projects and activities. Fulfills team roles as needed. Performs all other duties as assigned.

Skills and Requirements

2 to 5 years practitioner-level experience in medical equipment repair and maintenance

College level or equivalent electronics training and experience

Healthcare AAMI Certified Biomedical Electronic Technician (CBET) Network Certification(s)
