Job Description
The Quality Control Technician ensures that in-process and finished powder coating products meet strict quality standards by performing a variety of tests, identifying nonconformances, and supporting corrective actions. This role actively evaluates product quality, performs root cause analysis when issues arise, and has the authority to stop production to protect product integrity.

Responsibilities
Perform quality control testing on in-process and finished powder coating products to ensure they meet specifications.
Run various laboratory and production floor tests, including preparing and evaluating spray panels, checking gloss levels, and testing color accuracy.
Conduct root cause analysis on any out-of-spec or nonconforming products and make clear, actionable recommendations for corrections.
Confirm the quality of finished products prior to final release and shipment.
Exercise stop authority when nonconformance is detected, halting production when necessary to maintain quality standards.
Accurately enter and maintain test results and quality data in SAP.
Work closely with production personnel by going out to the production area to collect samples and communicate quality findings.
Demonstrate accountability and ownership over quality decisions, including making timely judgments about product acceptance or rejection.
Support continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to a culture of quality within the facility.
Essential Skills
At least 1 year of previous quality control (QC) experience.
Quality control experience in paints, coatings, inks, or related industries preferred.
Willingness to consider QC experience from food or pharmaceutical industries.
Strong understanding of quality testing methods and nonconformance identification.
Ability to perform root cause analysis and recommend corrective actions.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
Ability to make confident decisions regarding product quality and production stoppage when needed.
Strong sense of accountability and ownership over work and quality outcomes.
Comfort working in a powder environment and going into production areas to obtain samples.
Ability to understand, speak, and write in English for documentation and communication.
Manufacturing experience suitable for working 12-hour rotating night shifts.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
1+ years of experience in powder coating with a skillset in quality testing is a strong plus.
Experience with SAP or similar enterprise systems is a plus.
Quality control experience specifically in paints, coatings, or inks is highly valued.
Quality control experience from food or pharmaceutical industries will be considered.
Interest in future career growth opportunities, including potential movement into an R&D laboratory environment.
Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with production and quality teams.
Work Environment
The Quality Control Technician works primarily in a Quality Control office and laboratory setting and regularly visits the production floor to collect samples and interact with operations staff. The role involves working in a powder coating manufacturing environment and requires comfort with powder and industrial conditions. The position follows a 12-hour rotating or swing night shift schedule (from 6:00 PM-6:00 AM), with initial training on a first-shift schedule (approximately 6:00 AM–2:30 PM for 4–12 weeks depending on learning pace). The dress code is casual, complemented by a lab coat provided for work in the QC area. The environment supports hands‑on, detail‑oriented work and offers opportunities to grow into roles such as positions in an R&D lab.
