Overview

The Electrical Drafter creates and modifies detailed electrical drawings and 3D models using Revit and related BIM software to support construction and engineering projects. This role focuses on routing and coordinating electrical conduit systems, ensuring accurate documentation, and collaborating with project teams to deliver high-quality construction documents.
Responsibilities

Create and modify electrical drawings and 3D models using Revit and other BIM tools in accordance with established drafting standards, practices, and techniques.
Perform routine drafting assignments that require a thorough knowledge of computer-aided drafting systems and electrical design concepts.
Develop and apply quick actions, shortcuts, and command language functions within drafting software to streamline drawing creation and editing.
Use mathematics to prepare accurate drawings, including calculations required for dimensions, scaling, and layout.
Review work orders, design documents, and procedural manuals to determine critical dimensions, design requirements, and project constraints.
Calculate figures to convert design dimensions into resizing dimensions for subsequent production processes using conversion charts and calculators.
Focus on drawing, routing, and declashing electrical conduit systems in coordination with other building systems and trades.
Utilize 2D and 3D drafting skills to support BIM coordination and clash detection efforts.
Create and manage Revit worksheets and participate in the Revit worksharing process to support collaborative project delivery.
Manipulate Revit families, views, browser structure, sheets, schedules, filters, and related functions to produce clear and organized construction documents.
Import external documents such as spreadsheets, photos, images, and word processing files into Revit projects as needed.
Read and interpret 2D plans, both electronic and hard copy, and translate them into accurate 3D models and shop drawings.
Assist in 3D coordination with other trades, ensuring electrical systems integrate effectively with structural and mechanical elements.
Essential Skills

High school diploma or GED.
Completion of drafting courses; one to two years of technical training in drafting or a related field preferred.
Practical working experience in electrical drafting or MEP drafting using Revit.
General working knowledge of Revit, Navisworks, AutoCAD, and Bluebeam.
Proficiency in electrical drafting using 3D modeling software, including BIM tools such as Revit, AutoCAD, and Navisworks.
Ability to create Revit worksheets and work effectively within the Revit worksharing process.
Ability to manipulate Revit families, views, browser structure, sheets, schedules, filters, and similar Revit functions.
Fluency in working in both 2D and 3D drafting environments.
Understanding of 3D coordination and how electrical systems interface with other trades.
Ability to take verbal and general written direction and translate it into accurate, constructible shop drawings.
Ability to read and interpret 2D plans, both electronically and in hard copy format.
Additional Skills & Qualifications

Experience in electrical or MEP drafting within construction or consulting environments.
Experience with BIM coordination and clash detection processes.
Ability to create simple parametric Revit families and utilize shared parameters.
Ability to create and manage Revit schedules to support material take-offs and documentation.
Ability to create more complex geometry within Revit for specialized electrical components or assemblies.
Familiarity with construction documents, blueprints, and construction workflows.
Work Environment

The role operates in a professional office and hybrid work setting, with a schedule that typically includes three days in the office and two days working from home each week. You will work extensively with Revit, Navisworks, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and other BIM and construction document tools, using standard office technology such as plotters, printers, and document reproduction systems. The position supports major electrical construction and infrastructure projects, including large local and regional developments.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Portland, OR.
Pay And Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $45.00/hr.
