
Charge Nurse-Fair Oaks Health Center (Open & Promotional)

Position Summary
San Mateo Medical Center's Fair Oaks Health Center in Redwood City is seeking a Charge Nurse to provide quality nursing care across its OB/GYN clinic, Optometry clinic, and Specialty clinic, which includes cardiology, immunology, musculoskeletal, and podiatry. The Charge Nurse will work with the clinic manager and clinic management team to direct nursing care, coordinate resources, and offer leadership to staff.
Duties and Responsibilities
Assess, evaluate and direct nursing activities during assigned shifts to provide quality care in compliance with standards.
Supervise and perform nursing assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation, and documentation of patient care.
Coordinate adequate unit or clinic staffing for assigned shifts.
Participate in interviewing, hiring, evaluating, and counseling staff.
Supervise professional and paraprofessional nursing staff.
Identify staff development needs and implement continuing education programs.
Assist with planning unit or clinic budget.
Interpret policies and procedures for nursing staff.
Participate in staff meetings.
Coordinate with support departments for comprehensive patient care.
Maintain and evaluate records.
Perform related duties as assigned.
Licensure and Certification
California registered nurse license.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Education and Experience
Any combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying.
Knowledge
Nurse Practice Act and relevant professional and governmental standards.
Nursing theories, principles, methods, and practices.
Safety and infection control principles.
Clinical systems, supplies and equipment.
Staff development principles.
Supervisory principles.
Skills and Abilities
Perform and evaluate nursing procedures required for the assigned shift and clinical setting.
Plan, organize, supervise and evaluate nursing staff.
Interpret and implement nursing policies and procedures.
Instruct and train professional and paraprofessional employees.
Communicate effectively orally and in writing.
Maintain professional nurse-patient and nurse-physician relationships.
Prepare reports and maintain accurate records.
Eligibility & Application
