
Campus Safety Supervisor

This position, under general supervision of a designated supervisor, will coordinate, supervise, and perform campus safety work concerned with protecting the lives and property of the general public, primarily the University community, and in support of the University's mission. Officers ensure safety on campus while providing security, protection, and related services to the University community and contribute to university life by participating in educational programs, committees, and other campus activities.
Duties / Responsibilities

Promote the safety and security of persons, property, and buildings on campus. Enforce policies, rules, and regulations of the University System of New Hampshire and Plymouth State University, as well as federal, state, and local laws and ordinances.
Enforce campus parking regulations and ticket violators, assist in student conduct complaints, and other assigned matters.
Collaborate with Student Life, Residential Life staff, faculty, staff members, and law enforcement personnel from other jurisdictions to mitigate disorder, crime, and crisis within the scope of New Hampshire laws and University policies.
Work collaboratively with Student Life and Residential Life staff to provide a student‑centered approach to promoting a safe and orderly environment. Other duties include VIP protection/security, travel and patrol procedures requiring physical effort under varying climatic conditions, assist other law enforcement officers and agencies, appear in court as a witness, complete forms and reports, and maintain effective communication with officials at the Office of Student Life and Residential Life Department.

Proactively intervene and engage with students and campus community members while maintaining a high level of visibility in residential, academic, and administrative buildings and campus grounds.
Patrol to protect people and property. Identify activity or behavior indicating a risk to safety, approach, respond, and report in accordance with established procedures. Respond to people in crisis, criminal acts, disturbances, noise complaints, motor vehicle accidents, and dispatcher‑assigned calls or other duties assigned by a supervisor.

Supervision and oversight of the Campus Safety Department.
Organize officer schedules and maintain minimum coverage schedules.
Manage officer timecards and time‑off requests.
Assist with budgetary duties.
Personnel management and coordination of staffing and hires.
Serve as the primary point of contact for the Campus Safety Department.
Responsible for physical assets of the department, such as vehicles. Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Minimum acceptable education: high school graduate (college preferred). 21 years of age at the time of appointment.
Willing to engage in campus‑related activities.
Valid driver’s license and ability to operate a law enforcement vehicle during day and night, in emergencies, congested traffic, and unsafe road conditions.
Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
Ability to respond quickly to emergencies, work under pressure, and work a flexible schedule.
Ability to qualify yearly with department‑issued equipment.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
Use sound, independent judgment.
Full background check required. No felony or serious misdemeanor convictions.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Two years of experience with a public safety agency or equivalent.
Experience as a full‑time or part‑time certified police officer with a city, town, county, or state law enforcement agency.
Knowledge of law enforcement, safety services, and communication services practices, technology, and methodology.
Skill in the use and care of law enforcement and job‑related equipment.
Ability to react responsively in emergencies.
Ability to interact positively and effectively with college students.
Advanced knowledge of first aid techniques.
