POSITION SUMMARY
The Golf Merchandise Manager provides strategic leadership and oversight of the Golf Shop retail operation. This role is responsible for merchandise planning and buying, inventory management, visual presentation, and overall retail performance, while delivering an exceptional member and guest experience.
As a key representative of Los Altos Golf and Country Club, the Manager ensures the Golf Shop reflects the Club’s standards of quality, service, and professionalism. This position partners closely with the Director of Golf and Golf Professional staff to support departmental revenue goals and enhance overall member satisfaction.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Merchandising Strategy & Buying
Lead all buying and assortment planning for apparel and accessories
Develop seasonal merchandising plans aligned with sales goals and budgets
Develop and manage open-to-buy and analyze sales, margin, and inventory turnover
Establish product mix, pricing strategies, and reorder thresholds
Attend markets and vendor appointments to identify trends and new brands
Negotiate pricing, terms, and delivery schedules
Evaluate vendor performance and adjust strategy accordingly
Inventory & Retail Operations
Oversee receiving, inventory controls, stock levels, and cycle counts
Ensure inventory accuracy and minimize shrinkage
Manage special orders and maintain organized storage systems
Prepare and maintain accurate retail reporting and performance metrics
Create and maintain a welcoming, service-driven retail environment
Provide knowledgeable product recommendations
Execute promotions, trunk shows, and sales initiatives
Monitor key performance indicators to drive revenue and gross margin
Uphold Club service standards and policies
Golf Operations Support
Assist with POS transactions and fee collection
Support reservations and member inquiries
Collaborate with Golf Professionals and Player Support staff to ensure smooth daily operations
Maintain a clean, organized, and visually compelling Golf Shop
Refresh displays to maximize sell-through
Ensure presentation aligns with the Club’s brand and standards
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Primarily an indoor retail environment with occasional outdoor support
Regular standing, walking, bending, and light physical activity
Occasional lifting of golf bags and merchandise shipments

QUALIFICATIONS
Experience as a Retail Associate/ Manager, Retail Buyer, or Merchandiser at a high-end service facility
Strong organizational and multi-tasking abilities
Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
A bachelor’s degree is preferred
AGM Membership is Preferred, Not Required
Proficiency with standard computer applications
Ability to learn and utilize club management systems (e.g., ForeTees, Clubessential)
