
Natural Gas Supply Manager

Basic Function
HF Sinclair is seeking a Natural Gas Supply Manager based in Dallas, TX. The Natural Gas Supply Manager manages a team that is responsible for the development of the functional strategy and leads others to resolve unique problems. Utilizing expertise and in-depth knowledge of job discipline, as well as advise on long‑term projects to provide those plants with both electrical and natural gas energy.
Job Duties
Manages the team responsible for negotiating and maintaining both term and spot natural gas purchases and related energy products as applicable to ensure supply reliability and optimize the energy balance across all refinery and plant systems
Manages procurement strategies for natural gas supply, transportation capacity, and other complementary feedstocks that support refinery operations
Manages and develops the commercial strategy for natural gas and power supply to (and in some cases from) the refineries, including long term asset development opportunities and commercial arrangements
Manages and develop the strategy and negotiate the purchase of natural gas and natural gas transportation for all HFS plants in the USA
Review refinery, RDU, co-gen and hydrogen plant usage daily and increase/decrease daily purchases based on usage, with various marketing companies in various locations. Ensure all purchases and sales of gas are fully documented and summarized for accounting and billing purposes
Build consensus on strategy and recommend best practices to improve products, processes or services
Manages key stakeholders to identify, negotiate and implement commercial opportunities
Call on existing and prospective customers and build business relationships, recommending and initiating the establishment of new alternate supply points
Develops purchase and transportation agreements for various Company entities as needed
Monitor purchases and determine growth opportunities
Evaluate market options and make strategy and hedging recommendations
Interpret internal/external business challenges and recommend best practices for improvement
Works with management to develop commercial talent
Liaises with Refineries, Planning and Optimization and Contracts & Pricing to ensure efficient completion of contracts
Develop economic and risk analysis of energy availability for the plants
Special assignments or tasks assigned to the employee by their superior, as determined from time to time in their sole and complete discretion.

Experience
A minimum of 10 years of Natural Gas Supply and Marketing, Business Development, Power Supply, and Financial Analysis in the Oil and Gas industry is required. High‑level understanding of Refinery operations is an asset.
Preferred Experience:
Natural gas and power experience required. Refinery, gas plant, co‑gen or solar experience preferred
Strong working knowledge for the mid-Continent, Southwest and Pacific North West gas markets
Working knowledge of Microsoft products and general SAP end user experience
Education Level
A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree, preferably in Business or technical discipline is required.
Preferred Educational Level
MBA preferred
Required Skills
Ability to lead and direct a group of employees. Proven leadership skills including mentoring, decision making, and delegation and motivating others. Strong negotiating, interpersonal and presentation skills. Ability to work independently or on teams. Ability to effectively communicate with others, both written and verbal communication. Advanced reading and writing skills, with the ability to perform intermediate mathematical calculations.
Preferred Skills
A significant amount of experience in the energy industry is preferred. A good understanding of refined product marketing, as well as refining and marketing economics.
Supervisory/Managerial Responsibility
Responsible for the supervision of minimum of 1 employee.
Work Conditions
Office based with up to 40% travel by land and air required. Petroleum refinery, warehouse/plant environment including but not limited to chemicals, pressure vessels, tanks and rotating equipment. Subject to all weather and varying road conditions.
