
Lab Technician

Basic Function
HF Sinclair in Sinclair, WY is seeking a Laboratory Tech who would conduct physical and chemical testing on refinery process streams including intermediate, finished fuels and laboratory qualitycontrol samples. This position is accountable for certification of finished fuel in accordance with ASTM specifications and routine analysis of both hydrocarbon and aqueous samples using established analytical methods.
Job Duties
Provide accurate and timely data entry of lab results.
Possess LIMS proficiency in sample login, data entry and SQC charting.
Read and understand all analysis procedures and safety standards in English, including American Society for Testing and Materials methods of analysis and other analytical standards and procedures used in the laboratory.
Assist in or perform accurate and repeatable analysis as assigned by the Laboratory Manager, Chemists or Lab Supervisor.
Participate in proficiency testing programs in accordance with applicable standards and good laboratory practices.
Work with and around sensitive and delicate lab instrumentation, understanding the importance of proper operation and treatment.
Prepare chemical solutions according to standard formulas.
Exercise procedural, safety and quality requirements and strictly follow company policies.
Attend all safety and laboratory training sessions and fulfill testing requirements. During scheduled shifts, be able to work by yourself in a safety conscious manner.
Possess competency in lab techniques showing consistent and proper use of instrumentation, equipment and glassware.
Work rotating shifts with flexibility in shift schedules.
Possessing critical thinking and communication skills is mandatory.
Follow-through on commitments made to others.
Special assignments or tasks may be assigned by the supervisor as determined from time to time in their sole and complete discretion.
Experience
High School Diploma or Equivalent. Preferred educational level: Bachelors Degree in Chemistry, Physical or Biological Sciences, or an equivalent combination of education and experience working in an industrial laboratory.
Required Skills
Proficiency with spreadsheet and word‑processing software applications; good mechanical ability and understanding of operational principles of assigned laboratory testing instruments; ability to effectively communicate with others, both written and verbal; ability to perform basic mathematical calculations; basic reading and writing skills.
Work Conditions
Office based with up to 10% travel by land and air required. The work environment includes a petroleum refinery, warehouse/plant environment, outdoor and driver‑based operations involving chemicals, pressure vessels, tanks, and rotating equipment. Conditions may involve varied temperatures, weather, and road conditions. Flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and a rotating schedule may be required.
