This Opportunity
WSP is currently initiating a search for a Senior Architectural Field QA/QC for our New York, NY office to support the Building Condition Assessment Survey (BCAS) program for the New York City School Construction Authority (SCA) and NYC Department of Education facilities.

This position provides Architectural Field Quality Assurance and Quality Control (Field QA/QC) oversight for inspections performed under the BCAS program. QA/QC responsibilities are directly tied to field inspection execution, including inspector oversight, methodology enforcement, field re‑inspections, and validation of architectural inspection data to ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance with SCA requirements and WSP standards.

The Senior Architectural Field QA/QC serves as a senior field‑level quality resource, supporting the Architectural Discipline Lead and project management by ensuring inspection quality, consistency, and adherence to assessment methodology across assigned inspection teams.

Your Impact

Provide integrated Architectural Field QA/QC oversight for BCAS inspections in accordance with SCA requirements, BCAS methodology, and WSP quality standards.

Verify that architectural inspections are performed correctly in the field and that reported data accurately reflects observed site conditions.

Review architectural inspection reports, photographs, and field documentation for accuracy, completeness, and consistency with BCAS condition definitions.

Conduct Field QA/QC re‑inspections, spot checks, shadowing, and random sampling to validate inspection findings and identify execution issues.

Apply professional architectural judgment to evaluate building envelope systems, roofs, façades, interiors, finishes, doors, windows, and accessibility components.

Provide field‑based guidance, mentoring, and corrective feedback to architectural inspectors to reinforce proper inspection methodology and reporting practices.

Identify recurring quality issues, trends, or risks in inspection execution and elevate findings to the Senior Architectural Discipline Lead.

Coordinate with inspectors and discipline staff to resolve data gaps, inconsistencies, or deficiencies identified through Field QA/QC activities.

Coordinate Field QA/QC activities with other discipline QA/QC staff to ensure cross‑discipline consistency.

Support responses to SCA inquiries related to architectural inspection quality, field execution, and data integrity.

Perform additional responsibilities as required by project and business needs.

Who You Are
Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture, Architectural Engineering, or a related field.

Minimum 5 years of relevant, post‑education experience in architectural inspection, consulting, building condition assessments, or QA/QC leadership roles.

Extensive knowledge of architectural building systems within facilities, including building envelope, roofing, interiors, finishes, and accessibility requirements.

Demonstrated experience leading or supporting QA/QC functions on large inspection or assessment programs.

Strong understanding of building codes, standards, and best practices applicable to architectural assessments.

Proven ability to evaluate inspection data using professional judgment, industry standards, and client‑specific methodologies.

Demonstrated leadership skills, including mentoring, training, and performance oversight of inspectors.

Exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic field environment.

Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to produce clear, professional technical documentation.

High level of computer proficiency and comfort working with digital inspection and reporting platforms.

Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and compliance with WSP’s health, safety, drug/alcohol, and harassment policies.

Ability to work schedules conducive to project‑specific requirements, including field oversight.

Occasional travel may be required depending on project needs.

Preferred Qualifications

Registered Architect (RA) or equivalent professional licensure.

Prior experience serving in a senior Field QA/QC, Discipline QA/QC, or Field QC role on Building Condition Assessment programs.

Experience with NYC public school facilities, SCA, DOE, or other large public‑sector capital planning programs.

Familiarity with portfolio‑based inspection programs and large‑scale data validation workflows.

Compensation
Expected Salary (all locations): $103,600 - $141,000

WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location.
