Position Overview
We are seeking a Building Electrical Systems Engineer to support industrial and large commercial building projects by developing safe, code‑compliant constructible electrical systems for EPC and Design/Build projects, from concept to construction. This role blends technical design, multidisciplinary coordination and construction‑driven engineering. Design building electrical systems (lighting, power distribution, equipment feeds, lightning protection, security systems, and other related systems) and deliver models, drawings, specifications, calculations and relevant analysis. You may mentor junior engineers, perform design checking and lead projects.

Location
This position may be based out of our Lone Tree, Colorado or Houston, TX offices. Flexible/hybrid work is available (2 days from home, 3 days in office). Up to 25% travel is expected to offices and project sites.
Responsibilities
Develop building lighting, power and distribution designs for various project types including data centers, industrial buildings, nuclear buildings, water treatment buildings, hospitals, and pharmaceuticals.
Perform Revit modeling and drawing creation or coordinate with BIM staff.
Complete calculations for lighting, electrical loading, short circuit, voltage drop, and energy code using SKM or ETAP.
Develop project building electrical specifications.
Perform bid review, shop drawing review, RFI response, and construction site punch lists.
Coordinate projects internally and externally within the Industrial Building Group.
Create and maintain departmental standards and tools.
Mentor and train entry‑level engineers and interns.
Perform quality checks on design and engineering to ensure accuracy.
Senior Building Engineers may lead portions of projects or complete building projects and guide lower‑level engineers.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Architectural Engineering.
Minimum 5+ years of relevant electrical engineering experience in the building industry (non‑residential) performing design functions and calculations.
Experience with Alternative Delivery (EPC and/or Design/Build) highly desired.
Solid understanding of National Electrical Code, International Building Code, and energy codes.
Proficient in Revit and Microsoft Office Suite. Experience with SKM or ETAP for load flow studies, arc flash, short circuit.
Proficiency in AGi32 software or Visual (a plus).
Ability to adjust to varying demands of work and perform well under pressure.
Registered Professional Engineer (PE) or commitment to achieve within 6–18 months preferred.
Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Proven ability to manage multiple responsibilities and meet deadlines.

Work during normal operating hours; overtime and weekends may be required.
Base Compensation: $110,000 – $150,000 (Actual compensation varies with education, experience, skillset, and/or location)
