Senior Analyst – Forecasting & Resource Planning
We’re looking for a detail-oriented and analytical professional to support our utility forecasting efforts. In this role, you’ll be responsible for developing and maintaining load forecasts, conducting research, and supporting regulatory filings through data-driven insights. If you’re passionate about energy analytics and enjoy working in a collaborative environment, we’d love to hear from you.
Responsibilities include:
Develop load forecasts for Indianapolis Power and Light and Dayton (energy, peak, and revenue).
Maintain and update sales and revenue forecast models and load research database.
Track and explain monthly budget variances due to weather, efficiency and economics.
Summarize and deliver load forecasts to finance, accounting and leadership for budgets.
Prepare load forecasts for Coordinated Resource Planning.
Lead contracts and relationships with load forecasting vendors.
Research power industry trends in load forecasting and incorporate future risks and opportunities into modeling.
Key Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Engineering, Economics, Business, Accounting, from an accredited college/university.
MBA is a plus.
2-5 years experience in utility energy forecasting or a combination of education and experience providing equivalent capabilities.
Electric utility experience.
Strong technology skills and analytical skills with detailed understanding of the load forecasting process and weather normalizing electric sales.
Experience with Itron load forecasting/research tools, e.g. Metrix ND.
Strong ability to collaborate with team members.
Excellent written and verbal communication, with ability to prepare and make clear and concise technical/business presentations.
Critical proficiencies include: accountability, data analytics and problem solving.
