UH-60 Aircraft Mechanic 2 (Avionics/Electrician)
Performs repairs and troubleshoots aircraft systems and malfunctions of avionics, navigation, electrical, and communications systems.
Responsibilities
Install, remove, inspect, test, adjust, or repair avionics equipment, such as radar, radio, and navigation systems in aircraft.
Installs and repairs electrical wiring and/or cable on aircraft in adherence to established specifications.
Cuts and strips wire, insulates connections.
Assemble components such as switches, electrical controls, and junction boxes, using hand tools and soldering irons.
Safely prepare aircraft for inspections and maintenance checks and services.
Perform scheduled inspections and assist in performing special inspections.
Perform limited maintenance operational checks and diagnoses and troubleshoots aircraft systems using special tools and test equipment as required.
Use and perform operator maintenance on tools, special tools and aircraft ground support equipment.
Perform other qualified duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
High School Graduate or equivalent is required.
U.S. military technical school or specialized training course is desired.
Required and preferred experience:
UH60A/L experience is a requirement. UH60M recent experience is preferred.
Valid FAA A & P OR FCC License Preferred, and Two (2) years aviation maintenance experience, three (3) years rotary wing aircraft experience, and Two (2) years on the assigned
UH-60
(MDS).
All experience must be within the Five (5) most recent years is required.
If No A & P or FCC License, must have the following experience:
Three (3) years aviation maintenance experience, three (3) years rotary wing aircraft experience, and Two (2) years on the assigned
UH-60
MDS.
All experience must be within the Six (6) most recent years.
Must have a Valid US Passport, with a minimum of 18 months remaining to expiration.
Ability to obtain/maintain Security Clearance (NAC-I T1) Public Trust. Interim NACI approved to start. US Citizenship is required to obtain facility credentials and Public Trust Clearance.
Travel
As required in support of task order.
Knowledge & Skills
Broad knowledge of aircraft sheet metal/structural modifications and repair.
Basic knowledge of electrical theory and a thorough knowledge of aircraft unique tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, sheet metal brakes and sheers.
Working knowledge of technical publications and Logistics Information Systems.
Able to prioritize workloads to maintain schedules on assigned projects and is required to lead teams through more complex aircraft relevant tasks.
Participate in maintenance test flights and operation checks as required.
Possess the level of experience to inspect all required aeronautical type maintenance to be performed by Mechanics.
The incumbent receives technical guidance, as required, from supervisor or higher-level technician, will occasionally be required to lead teams through more complex aircraft relevant tasks, and may be required to make entries in aircraft logs and records.
Physical Requirements/Working Environment
Must be able to climb, stand, stoop, bend, stretch, crouch, and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions.
Frequently lift parts and equipment up to 20 pounds.
Occasionally lift objects up to 50 pounds.
Must be immediately deployable to potential combat areas worldwide.
