Description
The Oncology Scheduling Specialist welcomes patients to our organization in a courteous, friendly, and helpful manner. They will exhibit proficient and professional communication skills with patients, families, co-workers, and physicians. Exhibits comprehensive knowledge of resources within the clinic and community to provide optimum care to patients and their families. Responsible for provider scheduling, infusion appointments, inpatient and outpatient appointments (including but not limited to chemotherapy treatments, other infusions), internal & external referrals, assisting with prior authorization, precertification, and referral processes to ensure maximum benefit coverage. Provides basic patient education on scheduled procedures. Will also assist with Medical Oncology and Radiation Oncology scheduling, and other duties as assigned.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Greets patients in a caring and professional manner by phone &/or in person.
Schedules all appointments/procedures accurately within guidelines provided.
Obtains appropriate patient, insurance, and treatment information, as needed.
Assists in coordinating appointments for all services.
Maintains provider and infusion schedules and makes and communicates changes as indicated by provider, coordinator, or manager.
Schedules and reschedules appointments for multiple providers across Cancer Center service lines.
Maintains equipment on a daily basis as needed for patient scheduling. Example: PCs, printer, fax, etc.
Periodically checks on patients throughout patient care areas to ensure their needs are being met.
Maintains compliance with HIPAA Privacy and Security regulations as per Lake Region Healthcare's policy in all facets of job duties and responsibilities.
This position is intended to provide flexible, cross-trained administrative support across key scheduling functions within the Cancer Center, helping ensure continuity of patient access and smooth daily operations.
Hours/Shifts Casual (less than 32 hours biweekly) with day shifts Monday-Friday
Compensation Hourly Wage Range: $20.14-$31.18/hour. Please note that final compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications and internal equity considerations.

Qualifications
Requirements are representative of minimum levels of knowledge, skills, and/or abilities.
Education/Special Skills: High school diploma or equivalent required. Graduation from MA, or experience in Medical Terminology preferred, but not required. Basic math, keyboard/typing skills, proficient, and professional communication skills, both verbal and written required.
Excellent patient experience skills.
Basic word processing and spreadsheet management skills preferred.
Successful completion of the pre-employment health screening process required.
Must be able to attend the work site per schedule.
