DESCRIPTION OF WORKIn this role, you will apply your mechanical expertise to keep a wide range of vehicles and equipment operating safely and efficiently. You will perform diagnostics, preventive maintenance, and complex repairs on both automotive systems and heavy construction equipment, ensuring reliability across the fleet. Safety, precision, and sound judgment are essential to success in this position.
Key Responsibilities- Perform detailed diagnostics, preventive maintenance, and repairs on construction equipment, trucks, automobiles, and hand tools.
- Work with both gasoline and diesel engines, ensuring all equipment operates safely, efficiently, and reliably.
- Identify appropriate repair procedures for heavy machinery and make precise mechanical adjustments to restore optimal performance.
- Promptly report equipment issues, incidents, or damage to support timely corrective action.
- Maintain a safe work environment for yourself, coworkers, and equipment operators by following all safety standards and best practices.
Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Some travel, overtime, and shift work may be required. Work hours subject to change based on seasonal requirements and operational needs.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
- Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Successful completion of the commonwealth's Diesel and Construction Equipment Mechanic Trainee program (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
- Two years of journey level mechanic experience in the diagnosis and repair of automobiles, heavy trucks, or construction equipment, which includes one year of experience in the diagnosis and repair of diesel vehicles or equipment; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Special Requirements:
- Must possess an active Class A or Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
- This position requires possession of an active Medical Examiner's Certificate in accordance with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations on the first day of employment.
- This position requires possession of a valid Pennsylvania Class 7 Inspection Mechanic Certification on the first day or employment.
- This position requires the employee to obtain a tanker endorsement within the probationary period.
- Employees may be required to obtain and maintain CDL endorsements and certifications necessary to operate specific pieces of equipment.
Additional Requirements:
- This position is subject to Drug and Alcohol testing in accordance with Federal Regulations.
