Specialty Carpenter / Installer
Job Description
This role focuses on the installation of Division 10 specialty building products on commercial construction projects. You will perform precise finish carpentry work, coordinate with other trades, and ensure that all specialty items are installed according to project specifications, safety standards, and project schedules.

Responsibilities

Install Division 10 specialty items, including toilet partitions and accessories, lockers and shelving systems, wall protection such as corner guards and crash rails, fire extinguisher cabinets, visual display boards including whiteboards and tack boards, and shades, screens, and projection equipment.

Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and project specifications to plan and execute accurate installations.

Measure, cut, assemble, and install materials with a high degree of accuracy and attention to finish quality.

Coordinate installation activities with other trades on site to avoid conflicts and ensure efficient workflow.

Verify that all materials, hardware, and components are correct and complete prior to installation.

Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas in compliance with OSHA regulations and site‑specific safety requirements.

Identify and promptly report field issues, deficiencies, or scope conflicts to the appropriate parties.

Ensure quality workmanship so that completed installations meet or exceed project standards and client expectations.

Assist with punch list items and support final project closeout activities as needed.

Essential Skills

At least 2+ years of commercial construction or finish carpentry experience, with Division 10 specialty carpentry experience strongly preferred.

Proven ability to read and interpret construction drawings, blueprints, shop drawings, and specifications.

Proficiency with hand and power tools commonly used in finish carpentry and Division 10 installations.

Strong attention to detail with a focus on high‑quality finishes and precise installation.

Ability to perform framing, measuring, cutting, assembling, and installing materials accurately.

Capability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as collaboratively as part of a team.

Reliable transportation to travel to and from job sites throughout Central Austin (Central ATX).

Consistent, dependable attendance and punctuality.

Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical work for extended periods.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Prior hands‑on experience installing Division 10 specialty items such as toilet partitions, lockers, wall protection, and visual display boards.

Familiarity with coordinating work with multiple trades on active commercial construction sites.

Comfort working from detailed shop drawings and field measurements to achieve precise installations.

Strong problem‑solving skills to identify and address field issues, deficiencies, or scope conflicts.

Commitment to safety and adherence to OSHA and site‑specific safety practices.

Work Environment
This position is based on commercial construction sites across Central Austin, where you will work with a variety of Division 10 specialty products and finish carpentry materials. You regularly use hand and power tools, follow OSHA and site‑specific safety requirements, and operate in active jobsite conditions that may include noise, dust, and varying weather depending on project stage. The role is physically demanding, requiring lifting up to 50 pounds and standing, bending, and moving for extended periods. Work hours typically follow standard construction schedules set by the project, and you are expected to arrive on time with appropriate jobsite attire and personal protective equipment in accordance with site safety rules.

Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Austin, TX.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $25.00/hr.
