THE POSITION

Norristown State Hospital is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our team as a Maintenance Repairman 2. Your work in this role will help us keep the hospital running smoothly so we can continue to provide excellent care for our residents. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position, you will provide maintenance services to support the operations of the hospital. Your work will involve receiving work orders and completing assigned tasks with other repairmen or by assisting other skilled trades. You will install electric components, install and maintain plumbing fixtures, and paint interior and exterior surfaces. You will also perform a wide variety of maintenance and repair tasks in the operation of heating, air conditioning, refrigeration, and ventilating systems in buildings. Your duties will require the use of hand tools such as hammers, saws, chisels, rulers, manual and electric drain cleaners, wrenches, brushes, scrapers, and trowels. Due to the nature of this work, the use of power tools is also expected. Additionally, you will be required to participate in the Asbestos Abatement Program which involves asbestos removal and encapsulation.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. This may change based on operational needs.
  • Overtime and travel as needed

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Two years of experience as a Maintenance Repairman 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Four years of experience in building and plant maintenance work, which has involved at least two of the building, electrical, or mechanical trades; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training that affords the applicant with the Required Knowledges, Skills, and Abilities.


Special Requirements:

  • This position requires possession of a valid Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License.
