DESCRIPTION OF WORK
As an Accountant 1, you will focus on organizing, analyzing, and evaluating financial transactions posted to corporate ledger accounts and restricted credit programs to ensure compliance with statutory requirements and accounting best practices. Your work will contribute to improvements that strengthen the accuracy and reliability of accounting systems. This includes following duties:
- Financial Review: Analyze corporate ledger accounts to verify the accuracy of interest, penalties, and other calculations, as well as identify errors, duplications, or missing data
- Credit Auditing: Audit new or existing restricted credit program transactions and confirm proper application, removal, or sale
- Compliance Analysis: Examine data edit failures and system generated reports to confirm adherence to programming initiatives and accounting requirements
- Procedure Documentation: Prepare and update written narratives for operating procedures across multiple subject areas
- Collaboration Support: Serve as a liaison with other divisions, bureaus, and agencies to improve workflow and resolve account issues

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment
- Work hours are an option of 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, with a 60-minute lunch or 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM with a 30-minute lunch; Monday - Friday.
- Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to three days per week, after successful completion of required in-office training. You will also be expected to report to the office for other in-person requirements and training as needed. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year as a Fiscal Technician (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration), and fifteen college credits in accounting; or
- Successful completion of the Commonwealth's Accounting Intern Program (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
- One year as a Financial Programs Trainee (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
- Five years of Bookkeeping experience and fifteen college credits in accounting; or
- A Bachelor's Degree including or supplemented by fifteen credits in accounting.

- This position will have access to Federal Tax Information (FTI) and is subject to the provisions of IRS Publication 1075 (Pub 1075) which requires you to pass an enhanced background check prior to beginning employment. Under Pub 1075, acceptance of a conditional offer of employment will require submission to and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to: a fingerprint-based federal records check; a PA State Police clearance; a check of local law enforcement agencies where you have lived, worked, and/or attended school within the last five (5) years; and a citizenship/residency verification.
