The Department of Corrections is searching for a dedicated and enthusiastic Electrical Engineer Consultant to represent the Bureau of Operations on construction projects contracted to licensed engineers or designed in-house. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position, you will perform a wide variety of electrical engineering duties in support of statewide corrections institutions. With the use of your expertise in electrical engineering principles and methods, you will develop solutions to operation, maintenance, design, or construction problems. Your work will involve reviewing and preparing all types of electrical engineering designs, as well as creating design drawings and specifications as required for construction projects. Some of your duties will include conducting site surveys of construction projects, attending design review meetings and conferences, coordinating design efforts with all interested parties, and providing recommendations regarding equipment. Additionally, you will advocate for the department and facility during conferences and site inspections.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
  • Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 3 days per week after the initial 6-month training period. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Mechanicsburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.
  • Employees with the required certification or license may be eligible to receive a lump sum payment at the time of hire and each time the certification or license is renewed.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Two years as an Electrical Engineer 2 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Four years of professional electrical engineering experience which required work on any structural electrical system.

Special Requirement:
  • You must possess a Professional Engineer license issued by the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists.


Condition of Employment:

  • This position requires possession of a valid driver's license.


Other Requirements:

  • PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
