Job Description
The Role
The Manager of Perioperative Services is responsible for planning, organizing, and operationalizing all functions of Surgical Services and Treatment Room areas. This position provides oversight and guidance to staff to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant day‑to‑day operations. The Manager of Perioperative Services is accountable for regulatory compliance, departmental budgeting, strategic planning, staff development, and collaboration with surgeons and interdisciplinary leadership.
Primary Responsibilities
Plan, develop, implement, and evaluate best practices for OR, CS, PACU, and Treatment Room services
Maintain and update departmental policies and procedures
Participate in and support hospital-wide Performance Improvement initiatives
Lead and participate in required departmental and hospital meetings
Establish orientation programs and annual competencies for staff
Provide staff evaluations and ongoing developmental feedback
Conduct regular rounding with department personnel
Maintain strong working relationships with surgeons and medical staff
Manage departmental budgets and analyze trends for capital and supply needs
Obtain quotes and oversee purchasing of equipment and supplies
Promote departmental services and evaluate opportunities for growth
Ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards
Minimum Qualifications
Graduate of an accredited nursing program
Current RN license in the State of Iowa (or compact state)
BLS Certification
ACLS Certification
PALS Certification
BSN required or willingness to obtain within two years
Leadership and surgical services experience preferred
