THE POSITION

As a Corrections Facility Maintenance Manager 1 for the Department of Corrections, you will play a key part in supporting the upkeep and safety of the State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Mahanoy. This position gives you the opportunity to guide maintenance teams and help ensure the facility remains reliable and secure. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position supervises and supports maintenance and trades staff who carry out daily repair, construction, and operational tasks at SCI Mahanoy. As a Corrections Facility Maintenance Manager 1, you will perform the following duties:

  • Operations Planning: Plan, assign, and coordinate daily maintenance and construction activities to meet facility goals
  • Staff Supervision: Provide direction, training, and evaluation for maintenance and trades staff
  • Record Management: Prepare reports and maintain personnel, budget, and operational records
  • Safety Oversight: Inspect work areas, enforce safety standards, and address hazards or unsafe conditions
  • Inventory Control: Review tool and supply needs and authorize or deny requisitions based on justification
  • Security Monitoring: Search work areas and ensure proper security measures during maintenance operations

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 40-hour work week
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Two years of experience as a Building Maintenance Foreman, Utility Plant Supervisor, or Corrections Tradesman Instructor (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration) with a specialty in one of the trades of Carpentry, Electrical, Refrigeration, Plumbing, Sheet Metal, Machinist, Welding, Painting, Automotive, Electronics, or Masonry; or
  • Six years of experience in the construction, maintenance or repair of buildings; or the operation, maintenance and repair of utility services equipment, including two years in a managerial or supervisory capacity; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training.

Other Requirements:

  • Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
