DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position you will be implementing initial action plans on new intake calls, conducting follow-up visits and review of existing cases, conducting CPS investigations, and assuring clients have access to service providers. You will provide and/or coordinate services and goals for families to help strengthen and stabilize the family unit to prevent out of home placement and to work cooperatively with families to ensure the safety of children, while encouraging healthy family environments, so that the family unit may remain intact. Additionally, you will provide and/or to coordinate services and goals for families and to monitor family progress thus helping to strengthen and stabilize the family unit in an effort to reunite child(ren) with their families. You will also provide some permanency for the child(ren) while in placement (foster care, residential treatment or pre-adoption care) for whom reunification is no longer an option through adoption or Subsidized Permanent Legal Custodianship (SPLC).

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment. 72.50 hours bi-weekly
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 45-minute lunch.
  • Caseworkers will share on-call duties.
  • Travel and overtime as needed basis.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Two years of experience as a County Social Services Aide 3 and two years of college level course work which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences;?or
  • A bachelor's degree which includes or is supplemented by successful completion of 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences and one year of experience as a County Social Services Aide 3 or in a similar position performing paraprofessional case management functions.
  • Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within two months of graduating with a qualifying degree/credits.


Other Requirements:

  • PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
  • This particular position also requires you to possess a valid driver's license which is not under suspension.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.


Legal Requirements:
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
    • Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
  • A conditional offer of employment will require the candidate pass a drug screening.
