Job Summary
The Clinical Research Therapist will support the delivery of clinical interventions across various trials as part of the iCarus lab. The iCarus Lab in the Department of Health Promotion and Disease Prevention conducts biomedical and behavioral research to advance health equity for marginalized, underserved populations. This research is focused on developing and testing novel biobehavioral interventions to address the intertwining epidemics of stimulant use and IV, as well as pursuing translational projects to elucidate the neuroimmune pathways that underlie prevalent psychiatric comorbidities relevant to HIV prevention and pathogenesis. The position will support neuroARTEMIS which aims to elucidate neuroimmune processes that underlie the intersection of social stigma, anhedonia and altered reward processing in people with HIV who use stimulants. Participants will undergo an evidence‑based positive affect intervention, and the project reSTART, which aims to increase rates of viral suppression and ART adherence in participants who will receive a motivational interviewing (MI) session that will focus on adherence counseling.

Responsibilities

Support the delivery of clinical interventions across trials such as neuroARTEMIS (positive affect intervention), reSTART (motivational interviewing – MI), and TRIDENT (CBT‑AD).

Deliver the manualized interventions in a way that is standardized but also tailored to the participants’ needs, maintaining fidelity to treatment models and session structure.

Communicate and schedule study participants, monitoring participant engagement and adherence to treatment schedules.

Provide immediate support and intervention for participants demonstrating acute distress according to the study emergency protocol, documenting adverse events (AEs) and serious adverse events (SAEs).

Attend weekly group supervision meetings and individual supervision, as necessary, and provide session recordings for quality review.

Demonstrate strong analytical skills and show proficiency in various therapeutic techniques.

Maintain professional boundaries consistent with research ethics.

Complete accurate and detailed case notes and timely data entry.

Complete all necessary trainings and certifications (e.g., CITI, Good Clinical Practice) and stay up-to-date on necessary study procedures and guidelines.

Minimum Qualifications

Master’s degree in Social Work or related mental health provider discipline.

Mental Health License – Florida includes:
Licensed Clinical Social Worker

Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist

Licensed Mental Health Counselor
