Sinclair & Rush is a global manufacturer of plastic, rubber, and foam products, serving a wide range of industries. We are looking for a
hands-on Thermoforming Tool Design Engineer
to support our growing operations. This role works closely with production, engineering, and machining teams to design and develop tooling that supports efficient, high-quality manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities
Design thermoforming molds, trim tools, fixtures, and related components using 3D CAD software
Create and maintain detailed 2D drawings and dimensional layouts in accordance with company standards
Develop CNC machining programs (CAM) to support tool fabrication
Select appropriate tooling materials, components, and machining methods based on application and performance needs
Collaborate with production teams to troubleshoot tooling issues and implement design improvements
Support new product development and tooling launches from concept through production
Perform tooling cost analysis and provide estimates for new and revised tools
Assist in scheduling machining and tooling resources to meet production timelines
Establish and support production procedures, tooling standards, and quality expectations
Participate in quality assessments and continuous improvement initiatives related to tooling performance
Maintain accurate data within company systems, including BOMs, routings, items, and project records
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field, or equivalent hands‑on experience
Experience in tooling design, preferably within thermoforming or plastics manufacturing
Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks or similar) and CAM programming (Mastercam preferred)
Strong understanding of tooling materials, machining processes, and manufacturing methods
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
Experience working within ERP or company database systems (BOMs, routings, projects)
Experience with thermoforming and CNC machining processes
Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail
Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast‑paced environment
