Salary: Starting at $26.62 - $31.10 an hour, depending on experience
Schedule: Monday-Friday 8am to 5pm
Location: Hillsboro, Oregon *This is an in-office role at Five Oaks*
The Purchasing Coordinator provides administrative support for the team of commodity purchasers. The primary focus of this role is to streamline the function of the commodity buyers, while enabling a high level of communication with the yards, vendors, and salespeople.
The optimal Purchasing Coordinator is someone with above-average organizational skills, is detail oriented, highly accurate, and able to complete tasks accurately with minimal supervision. This role is vital to fulfilling our mission of Legendary Service Through Teamwork because a highly effective purchasing department is critical to the company being able to deliver on our customer service promises - as well as being critical to the profitability of PARR.
The Purchasing Coordinator reports directly to the Purchasing Manager, and works closely with the Operational Teams. This person interacts daily with vendors, sales, and yard personnel.
Qualifications
Knowledge of lumber, panels, and related products
Proficiency in Word, Excel, and Outlook
Must be able to operate personal computer, telephone, scanner, and any other equipment necessary for the job
Ability to speak, write, and read English required
One to two years of related experience; or equivalent combination of experience and/or training
Knowledge and experience working with perpetual inventory systems preferred
Working knowledge of Biztrack software preferred
Duties and Responsibilities
Match the purchase orders with quantities, destination, and pricing on vendor confirmation
Ensure that shipping schedules are met for commodity purchases
Track and follow up on late shipments
Communicate with the field about late shipments
Assist in price updates and corrections in Bistrack
Proactively communicate with suppliers about product and supply issues with the goal of making the system work better
Be the department point person working with yards on their inventory discrepancies
Assist Buyers in documenting and following up on product claims
Standardize, organize, and maintain the department filing systems
Perform other related duties as assigned
The primary working conditions are an office environment with a computer. The job may require occasional work in lumberyard working to train employees. The job may require occasional travel to PARR locations in the Northwest.
Physical Requirements
Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time
Ability to work indoors in a normal office environment for an entire day
Must be able to grasp, talk, hear, and operate a computer and keyboard.
Must be able to lift/push/pull up to 20 pounds and carry objects 50 feet
Must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions
Must be able to drive a vehicle when necessary
Both local and overnight travel may be required
