Security Assistant Intern

This position will be based at Ashburn, VA. Responsibilities:
Security Program Support (Primary Focus - Clerical)
Perform clerical and administrative duties in support of security procedures and requirements
Assist with processing, organizing, and maintaining security-related files, logs, and records
Receive, log, and route security-related documents and requests under supervision
Support data entry, report preparation, and document formatting related to security activities
Assist with setting up and maintaining physical and electronic filing systems
Shred and properly dispose of sensitive or confidential documents according to policy
Receive telephone calls and visitors related to security inquiries and route appropriately
Support preparation and tracking of routine security correspondence and forms
Maintain confidentiality and follow established security and workplace procedures
Work in controlled or secured office environments as required
Assist with escorting non-Telos personnel as needed
Office Assistant Support
Handle incoming calls, emails, and general communications
Greet visitors and assist with reception and front desk coverage
Assist with scheduling appointments, meetings, and events
Perform data entry and update paperwork and internal databases
Prepare correspondence, proofread documents, and assist with word processing
Help maintain office common areas, supplies, and equipment
Perform general clerical duties and administrative errands as assigned
Mailroom & Logistics Support
Collect, sort, and distribute incoming and outgoing mail and packages
Prepare outgoing shipments by weighing, labeling, and metering mail
Operate postage meters and maintain daily postage usage records
Process deliveries from courier services and coordinate internal distribution
Assist with preparing bulk mailings (folding, inserting, sealing)
Maintain mailroom supplies and inventory
Make occasional supervised trips to the Post Office for special mail handling
Qualifications:
Currently enrolled in or recently completed a high school, vocational, or college program
Interest in security administration, office operations, or government/industrial environments
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Professional communication and customer service skills
Basic computer proficiency (email, word processing, data entry)
Ability to handle sensitive information responsibly
Ability to perform light physical tasks related to mail handling
Learning Opportunities:
Exposure to administrative support functions within a security-focused environment
Experience with document control, recordkeeping, and confidentiality practices
Development of professional office, front desk, and mailroom skills
Understanding of security procedures from a clerical and administrative perspective
