Sr. Buyer Planner
MadgeTech is seeking a Sr. Buyer Planner responsible for coordinating procurement and production planning activities, ensuring materials are available to meet manufacturing demands while maintaining efficient inventory levels. The Sr. Buyer Planner is responsible for managing the procurement and planning of materials to support production and customer demand. This role ensures optimal inventory levels, timely purchasing, and alignment between supply chain activities and manufacturing schedules.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
Purchasing & Negotiation
Source materials, evaluate suppliers, and negotiate pricing, contracts, and terms.
Select suppliers based on quality, cost, lead time, and strategic factors.
Analyze cost-saving opportunities and manage supplier relationships.
Material Planning & Inventory Control
Plan material requirements using MRP forecasts and production schedules.
Manage lead times, safety stock levels, reorder points, and consumption trends.
Forecast demand and adjust purchase strategies accordingly.
Prevent production downtime by ensuring materials are available on schedule.
Supplier Management
Track supplier performance (OTD, quality issues, responsiveness).
Drive corrective actions for quality or delivery problems.
Conduct periodic supplier reviews and escalate recurring issues.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Work closely with production planning, and engineering, to align supply with build schedules.
Support NPI (New Product Introduction) by sourcing materials and coordinating timelines.
Reporting & Analysis
Analyze inventory KPIs (turns, aging, shortages).
Create and maintain purchase forecasts and planning reports.
Make data-driven recommendations for inventory optimization.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
Bachelor's degree in business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
3 plus years of experience in a purchasing or supply chain support role, preferably within a manufacturing or technology-driven environment (e.g., electronics, sensors, data logging).
Familiarity with basic procurement processes and supply chain operations.
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
Basic understanding of procurement software (e.g., MRP systems such as DBA.)
Good communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with both internal teams and external suppliers.
Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to address challenges with a positive, proactive attitude.
Self-starter, able to manage time effectively and work within a fast-paced environment.
Familiarity with electronics, sensors, or data logging systems is an advantage, though not required.
Basic understanding of product specifications, material requirements, and supplier sourcing processes is a plus.
