Join a dynamic healthcare team as a Patient Access Advocate, where you will play a vital role in supporting patients, staff, and third-party payers by efficiently managing patient access and revenue cycle responsibilities. This full-time position involves various roles such as operator, emergency department registration, and patient greeting.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct pre-registration for all patient types, ensuring no duplicate medical record or account numbers are created. This includes collecting demographic and insurance information via phone or during pre-procedure encounters, entering data accurately, and preparing patient packets.
Manage patient registrations by scanning insurance cards, verifying and entering demographic and insurance details, assembling necessary documentation, coordinating room assignments with nursing units or bed control, obtaining required signatures, and guiding patients to appropriate departments.
Follow protocols for special diagnosis patients, provide patients with informational brochures about their rights and responsibilities, and complete Medicare Secondary Payer Questionnaires.
Review and edit registrations before forwarding to billing, process patient transfers and discharges, and conduct follow-ups on signatures and Medicaid/Medicare eligibility.
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent required, with emphasis on office skills. Vocational training or on-the-job experience in computer operations and switchboard use preferred. Familiarity with medical terminology and healthcare business office procedures is advantageous.
